Shepard Tone

Shepard Tone collaborates with audiences to make playful shows designed not only to engage those who wouldn’t usually attend theatre, but to offer unique experiences for those who do. We believe in the power of gathering strangers in a room with a shared interest and interrogating complex issues together, whilst giving them an unashamedly fun night out at the same time.

“A promising company”

- The Stage

Each of our shows play with theatrical form in new ways - yet all, at their heart, endeavour to create communities amongst live audiences. We want to see how they can leave a footprint on our work as they co-create each performance. Through their actions and choices they will shape not only their evening, but the experience of the next.

Meet The Team

Adam Gregory

Adam (he/him) is a dramaturg and director. He makes fun, social commentary and environmental theatre, using positivity, optimism, and downright silliness as a means of encouraging positive social action. His practice involves structural and narrative journeys, invitations (never demands) for audience interaction, and making clear rules of engagement with audiences.

He is the Director of Shepard Tone as well as G&T Theatre, and he enjoys pints, metal gigs and Dungeons and Dragons.

Hannah Follows

Hannah (she/her) is an actor and creative. She likes making theatre that radiates positivity and creates genuine community with the audiences that view it. She prioritises finding the fun, whilst still delivering layered and intelligent performances for those looking for more than just a good night.

Most recently, she’s been sailing the oceans with P&O Cruises as the Captain of the Arvia II Submarine.

You can find her on Spotlight below and if you’re looking for an actor or have any spare tickets for The Eras Tour, she’d love to hear from you!

Tim Chapman

Tim (he/him) is an actor-musician, deviser, clown and co-founder of Shepard Tone Theatre. His favourite moments in any show are performing through scenes that have gone very very wrong. So far this has happened in every single Shepard Tone show and he hopes this continues forever.

Additionally, Tim is one half of the clown-musician duo Bertini & Me, where he continues to make ridiculous work for the audiences who fancy a great night out.

He may look innocent but can get fierce in a game of Table Tennis or Boggle.

Jess Donn

Jess (he/they) is one of the Associate Producers of Shepard Tone. Having cut their teeth at Mercury Theatre Colchester on the Stage One Regional Producer Placement, they are a freelance producer working across the UK with innovate companies and artists, specialising in interdisciplinary & devised work.

They are interested in creating work that is genuine, hopeful, and playful.

When not producing, Jess is an avid reader and buyer of books, and will fervently argue that these are indeed two separate hobbies.

PAST MEMBERS

Alexander Hick

Alex (he/him) is a director and theatre-maker, and one of the founding members of Shepard Tone. He’s an Associate of the King’s Head Theatre, and has assisted and associate directed shows on the West End and throughout the UK. He makes shows that can only work in a room with other people. He wants to make shows that are unashamedly fun, optimistic and feel more like a school assembly.

He enjoys going to the cinema way too much, circus and drinking Pina Coladas (getting caught in the rain optional).
